Company History
INA was founded in 1946 by Dr. Wilhelm Schaeffler and his brother in Herzogenaurach, Germany. INA began US operations in conjunction with Fafnir Bearing Co. in 1964, which aided growth in the US and internationally. In 1969, INA fully incorporated Fafnir Bearing and consolidated. After taking over LuK GmbH in 1999, INA, LuK, and FAG finally formed the Schaeffler Group in 2003.
Where are INA bearings made?
INA manufactures bearings and other products in several manufacturing plants in the United States. INA Bearings are manufactured in Schaeffler’s two factories in Fort Mill, South Carolina, with other production plants in Danbury, Connecticut; Winsted, Connecticut; Joplin, Missouri; Wooster, Ohio; and Cheraw, South Carolina. INA has built a presence in the United States since 1964 when they began their U.S. operations with a joint venture with Fafnir Bearing Co. located in Cheraw, South Carolina. That initial joint venture in 1964 led to the expansive growth of the Schaeffler Group’s manufacturing operations in the United States and North America.
INA and PIB Partnership
INA refers to itself as a partner for making motion more efficient. Within the Schaeffler network of global manufacturing, sales offices, and research locations, INA has incredible reach to supply rolling and plain bearing solutions to a broad range of industrial and automotive applications. Distribution companies such as Pacific International Bearing Sales Inc works alongside Schaeffler by stocking most of the popular INA products sold in North America.
INA Products
INA Needle Roller Bearings
INA needle roller bearings are of a compact design and have an extremely high load-carrying capacity. If using the X-life configuration you can expect up to a 50% longer life.
The load ratings of INA X-life needle roller bearings have been increased due to improvements in manufacturing. Dynamic load rating has increased by 15% over the prior year’s production of needle roller bearings. Improved load ratings have led to higher-performance bearings. Higher performance bearings have a longer service life and reduced friction resulting in lower bearing temperatures.
INA/FAG Single-row cylindrical roller bearings are manufactured with solid inner and outer rings. The outer rings have shoulders on both sides or may have no shoulders, and the inner rings have one or two shoulders or are designed without shoulders. The cage is designed to not allow the cylindrical rollers to contact each other while operational. Cylindrical roller bearings come with or without a cage.
Schaeffler offers a comprehensive catalog of maintenance-free plain bearings. INA Branded Plain bearings, such as ELGOGLIDE, ELGOTEX, and the metal-polymer composite E40 are accepted as market leaders. These PTFE plain bearing material types are used to provide ultra-low coefficients of friction in spherical plain bearings and rod ends. The special materials mentioned can be used in bushings, washers and strips ensuring low wear and very long-life cycles. INA Maintenance-free plain bearings reduce lubrication and maintenance costs because they do not require oil or grease.
INA Ball bearing track rollers are specified to handle high radial loads and axial loads in both directions. INA Ball bearing track rollers are self-retaining, single or double-row ball bearings.
INA/FAG Yoke-type track rollers are single or double-row units mounted on shafts or studs.
Cam rollers are similar in construction to single and double-row support rollers. The raceways are formed by a heavy-section roller stud and a hole for lubrication.
Several application areas for these products include cam mechanisms, mast guides, conveyors, and linear guidance systems.
INA Crossed-Roller bearings are bearings which conform to ISO dimension series 18. INA crossed roller bearings are used for high-precision applications, and its components are outer rings, inner rings, rolling elements, and plastic cages.
INA crossed-roller bearings support radial loads and axial forces in both directions. Crossed roller bearings are rigid in construction, which makes this type of bearing good for tilting moment loads and combination loads. This type of bearing has high running accuracy and can be supplied with a preload.
INA Thin-section bearings are small cross section highly precise bearings, as well as being quiet during operation and having a relatively high load capacity. This type of bearing also has the same thin cross section for all the series, which is why this type of bearing is called a (CS) bearing for constant section.
